Job Description

Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Food Services Coordinator II to work under the supervision of the Managers and Assistant Managers of Campus Cafes. The Food Services Coordinator II will direct and perform operational duties for Campus Dining Cafes locations and will play an integral part in ensuring food, coffee, espresso, and other drinks are prepared at the highest quality using standard recipes and guidelines.

This position coordinates and operates business functions for campus cafe’ locations. Duties include food ordering, forecasting, production, service, food and beverage record keeping, cash handling, sanitation and maintenance. Maintains the highest standards of quality for taste and presentation of all food and beverage products. Trains, supervises and directs the activities of student employees within the locations. Directs and performs cash handling and operation of the cash register. Complies with and enforces all ISU Dining policies and procedures. Maintains the highest level of customer service.

This position also places orders and coordinates deliveries with campus facilities and off campus vendors. Takes food temperatures, checks coffee & espresso grinds/shot times, checks milk steaming temperatures and handles cash at assigned location.

Job Requirements

The duties of this position require the ability to lift/push/pull cases of food and bags of produce weighing up to 50 pounds, to work cooperatively as a team member in a team-oriented environment, and to train and work cooperatively with student staff. The position also requires the ability to perform basic math skills and calculate the number of portions prepared and served for record-keeping.

Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience as Food Services Coordinator I or comparable experience in food distribution.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a convenience store, quick service restaurant, or other retail-oriented food service operation. Food Service or Retail Supervisory Experience.Direct Customer Service Experience. Experience Handling Cash and Processing Credit Card Operations with POS System.
