Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Chelsea, MA (On Site) Full-Time

The Director of LCL Seafreight for U.S. will define and deliver a North American LCL Sea Freight strategy that will support the Global Sea Freight LCL strategy and develop competitive service offerings to drive growth of GP2 and volume of LCL product across the U.S.A and the area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and execute the North American Sea Freight LCL strategy in the U.S.
  • Define, implement , execute and manage a U.S. Sea Freight LCL Product Strategy designed to reach Area gross profit and growth targets
  • Functionally manage the Sea Freight network for LCL (load planning and optimization) and development of potential LCL hubs
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Sales to develop & define U.S. Sea Freight LCL Sales strategy and execute strategy relevant tactics as required by changing market conditions
  • Establish, deliver and manage Sea Freight LCL product KPI’s to meet both client and Hellmann performance requirements (service levels, production volume vs. budget, etc.)
  • Define Sea Freight LCL sub-products and services aligned with Sea Freight LCL Product Strategy and Sales Strategies of Industry Verticals
  • Review & optimize the U.S. Sea Freight LCL Product services and costs for Sea Freight LCL from Door to CFS, CFS to CFS, and CFS to Door
  • Establish market-conforming U.S. pricing sheets for Sea Freight LCL to ensure sales success
  • Support U.S. Sales in developing and presenting compelling Sea Freight LCL solutions for top clients
  • Visit LCL clients with sales team and close new business, while continually developing Sea Freight LCL sales competency of U.S. sales colleagues
  • Collaborate with and influence Corporate and Area Functional Heads in the design and development of Sea Freight LCL-relevant operating systems and their functionality
  • Define U.S. Sea Freight LCL product strategy and ensure alignment with strategies of Global Product and Industry Verticals
  • Define the Sea Freight LCL product/service portfolio including LCL inland pick-up & delivery services, Sea / Air, Buyer’s Consolidation sub-products
  • Define growth and gross profit targets and associated volume and revenue forecasts per sub-product/service including revenue forecast and actions to achieve these targets
  • Manage Sea Freight LCL product portfolio including Sea / Air, LCL Buyer’s Consolidation, Expedited LCL (ocean + truck) and LCL inland pick-up and delivery sub-products
  • Communicate agreed Sea Freight LCL products/services within the Hellmann organization Responsible to ensure LCL Gateway operations meet internal HWL and external customer quality goals
  • Support establishing and maintaining pricing tariff and service matrixes for US LCL Gateway
  • Continual evaluating operating structure to create and gain efficiencies
  • Reviewing and reconciling all traffic and financial reports for the gateway
  • Providing sales support to branches, regions and trade lane specific, as required.
  • Support and lead all vendor related communication, incl. disputes, claim handling, rate negotiations and others.
  • Drive the LCL Gateway implementation and GTW use on a country, regional and global level.
  • Responsible for cargo routing for LCL freight

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role may supervise several employees.  

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Logistics and Supply Chain, or associate field), or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
  • 7 – 10 years of Ocean experience in Freight Forwarding or third-party logistics company
  • Work experience for a NVOCC is an asset.
  • 3-5 years minimum supervisory experience required
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish preferred
  • Completion of any industry related course is an asset

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently required to stand, and walk
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods
  • Regularly uses arms to reach, hands and fingers for computer and phone use
  • Speaking clearly and listening for heavy phone contact
  • Requires close-up and computer screen distance vision ability
  • May require occasional overnight travel
