Summary:


Springfield Clinic is quickly growing and looking to add a Clinical Informatics Nurse to team. This role is responsible for recommending clinical workflow processes to enhance quality care, patient access and customer service in clinical priority areas.  Responsible for consulting with the medical staff, clinical departments and IT in customizing software and altering workflow processes in the daily operation of the electronic health record.  Works closely with clinicians and departmental leadership to clarify needs, prioritize requests, recommend technology design, workflow and execute change and adaptation to the electronic health record.  Provides initial and on-going workflow training in clinical systems and continuing education to all users of clinical systems.  The Clinical Informatics Nurse I will take part in projects to support business strategies and Information Technology initiatives.



Qualifications:


  • RN or LPN with a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical office practice process or office practice management.

  • Strong basic PC skills required.  Experience with healthcare clinical applications is strongly preferred.

  • Must be able to use MS Office programs, copier, fax and telephones.

  • Basic knowledge of clinical workflows.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to speak in front of groups. Ability to create written technical documents, policies, procedures, memoranda and training materials.

  • Must provide own method of transportation to travel to all clinic locations.

  • Demonstrate self-motivation and ability to work independently.


Responsibilities:


  • Proven familiarity with electronic product features and capabilities.

  • Gather and coordinate clinical expertise from clinic management and physician advisors/users.

  • Work with clinical and operational managers to develop and implement policies and new workflow.

  • Support assigned locations to achieve maximum utilization and compliance of the electronic health record.

  • Follow the organization's project management methodology.

  • Participate in system testing, product roll-out and issue resolutions for all clinical applications.

  • Be familiar with new technology and functionality available in the market to further automate clinical office operations.

  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the software involved to determine what are procedural issues versus system/application deficiencies.

  • Emphasize timeliness, accuracy, security and the importance of these functions in the clinical application.

  • Assist staff in the efficient use of the current software by providing initial workflow training, on-site support and monthly education.

  • Document and contribute to clinical procedures and standards for clinical support including best practices, clinical process flows, knowledge base and develop adaptation processes for the clinics.

  • Problem solve application and workflow issues. Work through barriers to achieve results by collaborating effectively with users and the IT staff.

  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.

  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.

  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
