Overview of Position: 

Manage specific aspects of a transportation project with a major component in the construction phases.


Essential Functions:                                                                                                                                                                                                              

  • Manage the progress of assigned construction projects, reading all contract documents and plans.            
  • Manage, coordinate, and review general contract administration for transportation projects.
  • Manage issues dealing with contractors to resolve issues dealing with contract conformance disagreements.
  • Track overall costs, change order development, and cost analysis, contingency balance and provide monthly progress summaries.                                                     
  • Conduct progress meetings with contractor and owner personnel.

  •  Review contractors pay estimates, request for change orders.

  • Coordinate inspection and materials testing personnel.

  • Coordinate and review RFI (request of information).

  • Coordinate, review, and track constructing submittals.

  • Provide supplemental design engineering services (i.e. signed and sealed plan sheets)

  • Provide any other services to support timely project completion.

                                                   


Secondary Functions:

  • Other duties as assigned

 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas.
  • Minimum of two to five years of construction experience on TxDOT and/or HCTRA roadways projects.
  • Must have one year of direct oversite of highway construction as the Professional Engineer in Responsible Charge.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience required.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights, and swing shifts.
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and prolonged periods.
  • Valid Driver’s License and must have a good driving record.
  • Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, including the ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to independently resolve construction problems
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behavior.
