Job Description

:   Provides technical expertise to leadership, field management, safety personnel and subcontractors on an ongoing basis. Promote positive cultural change by continuous engagement and coordination with employees, project superintendents, subcontractors and the owner community.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains relationships with site leadership/superintendents to assure a mutual understanding of SBU, project and company safety strategy goals/objectives

  • Maintains and develops policies/procedures as needed or as directed by the VP, EH&S.

  • Consults with Vice President, EH&S and legal Representatives on litigation arising from compliance activities.

  • Leads oversight and facilitation of the SSSP process

  • Serves as champion of Lessons Learned and Best Practices

  • Assumes a leadership role in the handling of all OSHA citations in region.

  • Develop collateral for Serious Incident reviews

  • Performs formal inspections on all projects in area of responsibility

  • Leads the incident investigation process

  • Develops means and methods for the development of first line supervisors.

  • Provides oversight to ensure ongoing application of the LeChase subcontractor prequalification process.

  • Provides interpretation of new and emerging regulatory standards.

  • Develops root cause analysis on serious incidents

  • Ensures the application of injury management protocols on all projects

  • Has direct interface with preferred providers in area of responsibility.

  • Develops and maintains sound relationships with key subcontractors.

  • Provides oversight in the management of company’s drug screening programs.

  • Represents LeChase Construction in meetings with clients, governmental agencies, contractors, insurance companies and labor union representatives to resolve safety issues or to formulate policies, procedures or programs to further improve safety programming.

  • Reviews all applicable federal/state regulatory standards. 

  • Maintains knowledge of current enforcement policies.

  • Develops sound and open partnership with regulatory authorities region-wide.

  • Manages the regional EH&S budget for approval by the Vice President, EH&S.

  • Reviews expenditure patterns for conformance with the LeChase standards and guidelines.

  • Actively participates and contributes to corporate ESH initiatives

  • Develops and manages EH&S personnel across region

  • Directs the preparation of reports and proposals for presentation to potential clients.

  • Actively participates in the project/work acquisition process.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education and Experience

  • Four Year Degree.   

  • 5 years construction related safety experience

  • CHST, ASP, CSP Preferred

  1. Knowledge of:

  1. Strong knowledge of safety policies and procedures

  • Sound familiarization with commercial and industrial construction.

  • PowerPoint proficiency.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards.

  • Excellent communication skills.  Superior writing skills. 

  • Technical Competency in ES&H required.

  • Competency in program and procedure development

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  1. Ability to:

  • Conduct training with both large and small groups.  Training to include safety orientation and any site specific training required.

  • Identify and address safety hazards

  • Improve safety practices

  • Positive attitude, professional appearance and ability to work as a team member, communicate with others and share responsibility to work towards common goals.

  • Exhibit proactive work habits and desire to succeed.

  • Work well within a project team

  • Travel to projects to provide safety support as needed.
