Director, Supply Chain Marketing (textiles)

This position is responsible for directing and overseeing the activities of the U.S. Supply Chain Marketing department of the Global Supply Chain Marketing division of Cotton Incorporated. Responsibilities include managing a team of domestic account managers and maintaining activities with target accounts in assigned markets/territories in support of corporate and division-specific objectives.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to executing cooperative marketing programs, participating in industry events, and seeking opportunities to expand cotton's market share. This position also serves as a department leader and member of the division’s management team.


Core Functions:

  • Serve as a member of the division’s management team with principal responsibility for achieving objectives assigned to the U.S. Supply Chain Marketing department
  • Manage the U.S. Supply Chain Marketing department’s personnel, budget and program activity
  • Direct and oversee the U.S. Supply Chain Marketing department’s activities including technology promotion, account interaction and strategic implementation of marketing programs
  • Manage and provide direction and assistance to direct reports
  • Coordinate and provide company-wide resources and services in support of account needs
  • Represent Cotton Incorporated at client meetings, industry events, and tradeshows
  • Travel to meet face-to-face with customers to establish relationships

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Textile Management, Apparel Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field; Master’s degree in Textiles or MBA, strongly preferred
  • 10+ years relevant account management, consulting, marketing or business development experience
  • Experience in dealing with high-level executives in the areas of textile marketing
  • Experience managing staff, budgets and programs
  • Strong understanding of textiles, apparel, and/or home products markets
  • Strong understanding of the textile manufacturing supply chain
  • Ability to identify and prioritize strategic opportunities with customers and accomplish defined goals
  • Ability to generate, plan and execute creative and effective approaches to marketing and programs
  • Ability to create and conduct professional presentations to a wide variety of audiences
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional enthusiasm, with a customer service focus
  • Ability to address various audiences, including senior executives and large audiences
  • Ability to organize and schedule high caliber events
  • Strong commitment to producing excellent work
  • Motivated self-starter and team player
  • Proficiency in Microsoft™ Office Suite
  • This position requires domestic and international travel up to 40% of the time

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

  • General office environment with quiet to moderate noise level
  • Varied working conditions in off-site locations due to travel
  • Business casual dress clothes required
  • Regularly required to sit and use hands to type and grasp, with frequent standing, walking, and bending/twisting at the neck/waist
  • Ability to lift or exert force (up to 50 pounds) 25-50% of the time (primarily related to carrying sample bags when traveling or lifting items at tradeshows)
  • Occasionally required to push, pull, and reach above/below shoulder level
  • Participation in market events will require standing for long periods, extended hours, and assistance with set-up and break-down of tradeshow booths
  • Frequently required to have face-to-face and telephone interaction with internal staff and external contacts
  • Interaction with research groups involving visits to various laboratories where safety practices must be followed
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
