Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop build/repair solutions and identify process opportunities and deficiencies.
  • Devising innovative and cost-effective automated solutions for the process flow to enhance business performance, increase yield
  • Achieve quality assurance objectives ensuring repeatability, compliance with customer quality demands
  • Perform Design-of-Experiments to improve existing copper forming equipment and related tooling
  • Design and conduct experiments on new equipment or processes, pilot runs, and validation runs in coordination with the R&D team and production personnel 
  • Develop justifications for capital expenditures and related R&D budgets
  • Proactively identify engineering problems and apply technical expertise, performing engineering analyses and developing detailed and feasible solutions with the best approach
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify maintenance and operational problems
  • Create documentation, train employees in the operation of new equipment and new processes
  • Evaluate new equipment opportunities with outside vendors for use in manufacturing processes, and bringing newly acquired equipment online, documented, with training of production personnel
  • Develop automated manufacturing processes to improve manufacturing throughput and quality
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on tools and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operator manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Implement barcode data collection system in the factory in coordination with company ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite)
  • Comply with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience in an industrial environment; machine design, tooling design, automation, and process engineering.
  • CAD design software (Solidworks preferred, Creo acceptable)
  • Automation Design—PLC’s, DCS and HMI’s related to conveyor, pick-and-place and vision systems
  • Lean manufacturing experience a plus.
