FAIRWAY MARKET STEAKHOUSE IS LOOKING FOR A SHORT ORDER LINE COOK
Candidate will be asked to pass a cutting test during interview
•Prepares room for dining by clothing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
•Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
•Helps patrons select food and beverages by presenting menu; offering cocktails and aperitifs; suggesting courses; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions.
•Transmits orders to bar and kitchen by recording patrons' choices; identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests.
•Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression.
•Serves orders by picking up and delivering patrons' choices from bar and kitchen; delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars.
•Responds to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs; observing dining process.
•Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
•Concludes dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant; inviting patrons to return.
•Obtains revenues by totaling charges; issuing bill; accepting payment; delivering bill and payment to host person; returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons.
•Ability to work as a team and contribute to a team effort
•Must have at least 3-5 years of experience
•Good working knowledge of food quality, hygiene and sanitation, and food preparation.
•Ability to properly operate all Kitchen department equipment such as knives, slicers, ovens, stoves, fryers, grills, steamers, and blast chillers
•Must have basic math skills for making recipe conversions
•Strong Customer Service skills and ability to interact with other people and participate actively in department and staff meetings
•Strong teamwork and diversity awareness and ability to recognize and welcome differences among people and resolve conflicts respectfully and in a timely manner
•Organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize requests and department activities
•Problem-solving skills to effectively assist customers in a wide range of different transactions.
•Meet physical demands required for the position.
•Effective communication skills and ability to read, write and comprehend English
•Availability to work weekends, holidays, and other prime times of the business.
•Must be at least 18 years of age to work in the department
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
•Continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced work environment
•Exposure to various food allergens throughout the store
•Frequent motions such as standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting, reaching and constant arm movements
•Lifting up to 50lbs. and pushing and pulling carts up to 250lbs.
•Standing and walking for 4-6 hours at a time without a break.
