Supervises and coordinates activities of workers in retail store by performing the following duties.
This position pays within a range of $16-$17 per hour, based on experience, as a FLSA non-exempt hourly employee, paid weekly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Primarily responsible for the Retail Store Cashiers and Sanitation.
Supervises other departments in the absence of another manager.
Directs workers engaged in sales work, customer and corporate orders, taking of inventories, reconciling cash, keeping operating records, employee meetings, and performs cashiering and other duties to relieve subordinates during peak work periods.
Opens and closes the store cash registers, unlocks and locks store, turns on and off alarm.
Communicates to Pleasant Prairie and the retail stores when necessary information related to product, pricing, register issues, etc.
Has a working relationship with the register service company for updates, issues, etc.
Oversees the taking of inventory, merchandise orders and reorders
Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. Prepares and maintains Standard Operating Procedures
Handles the scheduling and evaluation of employee performances.
Performs additional duties in other areas of Visitor Center as assigned.
Investigates and resolves customer complaints and responds to inquiries.
Interview temps for all Visitor Center positions (cashiers, café hosts, tour guides, etc.)
Maintains a courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with customers and ensures that customers receive high quality service.
Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
Locks and secures store.
Issues written and oral instructions.
Cross-trained in other areas, such as the café as well as may be needed on occasion or to manage the retail part of the warehouse, Chocolate Shoppe, tour lane, Info Booth, Banquet and Events, etc.
Must be certified to drive a forklift.
Need to maintain a bio-harzard containment certification, food handling (safe serve), CPR/safety training, and trained on fire extinguisher.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Assists Retail Manager in supervising 40 to 60 non-supervisory employees and assumes full responsibility in Retail Manager's absence as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE One year certificate from college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
