Clothing Inspector (Quality Control)

This position is primarily responsible for inspecting bulk garments keeping standard specs as a guide and report discrepancy if any; help sales salesman sample distribution and help in the Sewing Room with tasks on an as-needed basis by performing the following duties.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for measuring size run pulled from bulk production to match the standard specs set for the style. Inspects for any abnormality and/or damage and reports to the supervisor.
  • Records measurements on audit form.
  • Hand sews and beads work if needed to obtain the desired final product.
  • Helps to stage and tag salesman samples for distribution.
  • Performs clerical services, photocopying, for projects.
  • Meets turnaround deadlines in accordance with the Shipping Department.
  • Follows quality procedures. Completes required quality record documentation completely and correctly on a daily basis. Assures effective communication during the course of a workday and at shift change.
  • Understands and uses quality assurance (QA) specifications,
  • Supports and performs all QC testing not performed by the Manufacturing inspection group.
  • Performs all notification tasks as part of the system.
  • Assures product release of variances, reworks, requests and other assignments from QC Manager.
  • Performs incoming inspection on purchased products.
  • Supports QC auditor in assuring quality requirements and expectations are satisfied on the shift assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Highschool Graduation
  • Some quality control inspection experience is preferable.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic knowledge of internet software; spreadsheet software (Excel); word processing software (Word); and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook) is preferred.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. The employee can differentiate colors and shades of garments and feel the difference in material to determine acceptable fabric and dye lots.

  • Clear and conceptual thinking ability is a plus.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.
  • Friendly, courteous, service-oriented, professional, outgoing, and customer service oriented.
  • Remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision.
  • Recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a professional atmosphere for employees, clients, and customers
