Technical Support/Computer Operator


Job Summary: 

Maintains and monitors the operation of automated systems. Maintains appropriate department documentation for supported automation products. Partners with other team members as needed to troubleshoot, resolve, and document/provide written status updates for incidents. Compile reports as needed to provide status of automated systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Key Activities: 

  • After hours job monitoring, troubleshooting and production support.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting services for failed jobs, workflows and files.
  • Exercise judgement and critical thinking in scenarios when jobs or processes fail.
  • Escalate advanced issues to on-call team members.
  • Document daily activities, produce performance metrics, and report on incidents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: 

  • High school Diploma, and/or basic vocational skills training. Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • At least one year job monitoring support experience within a Data Center or production support environment required.
  • At least one year of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing microcomputer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment; A+ certification.
  • Troubleshooting skills to include performing file comparisons to specifications and researching logs.
  • Working knowledge of current technologies (such as desktop management, server management tools, web browsers, thin client technology, etc.).
  • Strong multi-tasking, customer service, and both written and verbal communication skills.
  • May require frequent weekend or evening hours and being on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.                                

 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Information Technology related Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university a plus.
  • SQL reporting experience preferred. ETL tool experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Unix preferred.
