Inventory Control Specialist

NGK Spark Plugs is now hiring for a Inventory Specialist for our Wood Dale, IL warehouse. This is a 3rd shift position with hours of 10pm-6:30am M-F, and will report to our Warehouse Supervisors (2) on 3rd shift. Some OT may be required, but most work weeks will be 40 hours. This is a full-time position with benefits available after 90 days (medical, dental, vision, 401k with match, paid vacation/sick days/holidays/etc.)

Essential Duties:

  • Perform Dynamic Cycle counting.
  • Research discrepancies in count and location of a product within the warehouse.
  • Keep track of daily errors and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with identifying process improvements.
  • Assist in inventory control and its documentation.
  • Assist with auditing of non-confirming materials.
  • Assist in identifying root cause for inventory concerns, often utilizing various reports.
  • Communicate inventory findings with other departments.
  • Participate in physical inventories.
  • Assists with projects and other assignments as necessary.
  • Operate hand pallet jack and powered industrial trucks safely and responsibly.
  • Report any damage to racks, products, equipment, and any other safety hazards.
  • Adhere to safety policy/procedures.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including QMS related policies as applicable.

Academic Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Good communication skill in writing and verbally, using the English language
  • Minimum of 3 years warehouse experience
  • Minimum 1-year experience in auditing preferred
  • General knowledge of the Shipping, Receiving & Inventory function within a warehouse environment
  • Good understanding of safety basics, and experience in investigating issues
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in operation of powered industrial trucks preferred (i.e. cherry picker, forklift, electric pallet Jack, etc.)

  • Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse
  • Ability to see and hear (correctable)
  • Ability to communicate
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb, kneel/squat, bend, lift, carry
  • Ability to push, pull, grasp, reach, twist
  • Ability to work at heights using ladders or lifts
  • Ability to work overtime on regular basis
  • Ability to wear steel-toe shoes
