1. Must Haves: Active RN Unencumbered License. Will Hire New Grads (If they had Cardiac clinicals).

2. Plusses: Recent (Within 1 year) Inpatient Hospital experience. ACLS. BLS. ANCC (Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification). Background in cardiac.

3. Number of beds: 21 Beds

4. Patient population: This is a Stepdown/Intermediate Care unit. Our main focus is heart failure and patients with VADS (Ventricular Assist Device) and Heart Transplants. Lots of cardiac drips: Cardizem, Nitro, and electrolyte replacements. RNs will work closely with the VAD team on education for home (dress changes, LVADS, IV medication, etc).

5. Nurse to patient ratio: 1:3-4. (When it’s 1:3, typically the patient is a new transplant, new VADS, or pulmonary hypertension)

6. 7. Are there any opportunities for growth? Yes. Once experienced, they can move into a Charge RN or move into the Cardiac ICU. A lot of nurses will go into research or a VAD Coordinator role.

8. Orientation/Training and Reporting details? 10 weeks of orientation for a new grad. 8 weeks for an experienced nurse. RN will work closely with Preceptor learning the devices on the floor. Attend a VAD class and critical care classes.

9. What type of personality works well in this department? Friendly, team player.

Selling points of the unit: In Jan 2020, they are getting an artificial heart. Always advancing their technology/cardiac devices. They have done an Evaheart LVAD (medical device).

  • Provide care for patients in the assigned unit
  • Work in a neonatal intensive care unit providing quality nursing care to patients
  • Paid weekly but Daily Pay Available
  • Report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions
  • Demonstrate the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care of the neonatal patient
  • Providing around-the-clock care to patients
  • Ensure that a newborn's critical care treatment is
  • Perform neonatal assessment of NICU patients and Newborn Nursery patients
  • Supervise tasks to provide optimum patient care
  • Taking care of the preemie
  • Provide the best possible care
  • Provide intensive care management throughout the treatment episode at the levels of care designated by the use of approved medical necessity criteria
  • Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and supplies in the NICU, stabilization area, and neonatal transport unit
  • Enhance excellence in the delivery of patient care
  • Insure the proper care of patients and families
  • Providing intensive care management services to members based on the member selection criteria, policies and procedures
  • Placed in a nursing home level of care
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care and coordinate care so patients make progress toward desired outcomes
  • Review care of hospitalized plan members
