Manages all Manufacturing activities to ensure methods and procedures followed utilize personnel and equipment resources in a cost-effective, safe manner to meet or exceed customers’ expectations for quality parts delivered on-time.Promotes and implements procedural and technology improvements to enhance financial goals of company.Acts as a Key member of the Senior Management and Leadership teams.
Plans and directs manufacturing activities by working with Production Control and Materials groups to establish priorities for customer's products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
Works with Engineering and OMG teams to implement process changes and the use of tools or technology to speed manufacture process and/or improve quality and reliability of manufacturing method.
Evaluates each Manufacturing department to assess supervisor’s knowledge of equipment and procedures for elevation of technical skills and continuous improvement within their department.
Coordinates activities with the Facilities team to ensure that equipment is functioning safely and usage is optimized with training and operator or Facility team preventive maintenance programs.
Supervises and directs Manufacturing departments by establishing and following best in class operating practices in conjunction with Operational Excellence team.
Contributes ideas and objectives to the Operational Excellence team and supports their goals and activities.
Reviews recommendations from Manufacturing department supervisors to improve manufacturing methods and equipment performance to reduce costs, improve productivity and eliminate product defects.
Provides Management with production and delivery status achievements pertaining to the monthly forecasted goals and analyzes their root causes for successes and failures.
Ensures that safety procedures are established and followed throughout the plant to provide a safe and clean working environment.
Reviews staff’s work performance by completing performance appraisals.
Approves performance increases, retraining, transfers, or disciplinary actions after obtaining feedback from supervisors concerning performance of department employees.
Identifies training needs for personnel and recommends training programs.
Trains new staff on job responsibilities, Procedures and Work Instructions.
Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.
Communicates with other departments to coordinate activities, eliminate problems, and facilitate work flow.
Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Engineering degree or highly technical skills desired with minimum of 5 years of management experience.
Minimum of 15 years of manufacturing work experience is required.
Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills both oral and written needed.
Proficiency with ERP systems including word-processing/spreadsheets applications are necessary - Microsoft Office preferred.
Must enjoy fast-paced, multi-tasking work environment.
