Our Banking client in College Station Texas is seeking a dynamic Bank Controller to join their growing team. This particular client is growing rapidly and due to that growth is restructuring its accounting and finance department and parsing out duties to various top-flight professionals both internally and externally. This organization is growing and offers a top notch environment. The Bank Controller will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for:



  • Manages the processes for the preparation of consolidated financial statements for the company in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Preparing and filing the Bank’s Call Report, 10K, 10Q, regulatory, and financial reports before the established deadlines.
  • Maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk which enhances the accuracy of the Bank’s reported financial results.
  • Ensures that accounting and reporting policies are followed conform to general practices within the banking industry
  • Manages the external financial reporting activities to assure integrity, timeliness, and conformity to applicable laws and regulations (SEC and applicable federal and state banking authorities)
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls relative to financial accounting
  • Plays a pivotal role in the completion of annual FDIC and other agency audits
  • Serves as the financial contact in investor relationships with investors, analysts, and brokers, and provides feedback to management on how the market views the company’s strategies to create and sustain shareholder values
  • Maintains current knowledge of all rules, regulations, and laws as they apply to BSA/OFAC/USA Patriot Act/CIP/AML


  • Must have a minimum of five years in public accounting or comparable industry experience in commercial banking
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience. MBA or MS in Accounting preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Seven or more years’ comprehensive accounting experience with increasing responsibility
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of federal and state banking laws and regulations
  • Banking experience is a must with knowledge of banking procedures, policies, and regulations governing financial institutions
  • Ability to manage others well, to treat them with respect, and to balance corporate priorities with individual abilities
  • Knowledge of bank specific software and tools preferred

  • Direct and control bank sales office operations
  • Understanding various bank products and services
  • Make decisions to enhance bank performance and profitability including building fee income for the bank
  • Assume overall administrative responsibility for bank operations
  • Performing complex bank reconciliations for a large company
  • Train staff at the branch
  • Promote TCF as a full-service bank
  • Ensure the bank meet all aspects of the audit checklist
  • Manage and administer bank collection systems and customer contact systems
  • Assist with analyzing account bank transactions posted to the case
  • Participate in annual budget preparation for the retail bank office
  • Review bank's security procedures and controls access to vault
  • Maintain daily contact with bank staff, frequent internal and external customer contact
  • Manage consumer, mortgage and other bank collection activities
  • Manage consumer, mortgage and other bank collection activities on highly complex collection accounts
  • Attaining branch sales goals with management team
  • Provide coaching and work direction to branch personnel
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate bank, regulatory agencies and legal requirements
  • Promote an environment that facilitate strong teamwork and effective communication
  • Reconcile daily cash flow by reconciling the bank balance to the cash report
