A full-service public accounting firm located in Mclean, VA is seeking a full-time Staff Auditor to join their team. The Staff Auditor will report to the Partner of the audit department and provide audit support to the firm's variety of clients.
Performs detailed audit procedures on financial statement account balances, prepares and adjusts work-papers from clients’ trial balance
Performs inquiries of client personnel to gain understanding of the client’s business and processed and procedures
Identifies potential management letter comments
Participates in the engagement planning process
Performs other accounting, auditing, and consulting duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel
Assists with preparation of compiled and reviewed financial statements
Assists with drafting annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures
Becomes proficient at preparing financial statements using the firm’s software programs
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or current student working towards a degree in accounting
One to three years audit experience in the commercial, governmental, non-profit sectors or benefit plan audit experience a plus; public accounting experience preferred
Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles; knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS and Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Standards (GAGAS) a plus
