The Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of our AWS database. The DBA will also be responsible for capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, and troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.


  • Design, tune, optimize and monitor AWS RDS, NoSQL and Cache services
  • Test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with AWS DevOps Teams
  • Maintain development and production environments
  • Monitor and maintain database security and database software
  • Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
  • Review, design and develop data models in conjunction with the application development teams
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Database configuration & Application (SQL & PL/SQL) performance tuning
  • Backup and recovery
  • Root cause analysis of production-related database issues
  • On-call for production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer and dev support
  • Experience in creating automation tools for managing relational databases (auditing, account management, backup/restore, discovery, schema deployment).
  • Experience of Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Experience in consultancy role, assisting and mentoring junior DBA staff.
  • Track record of engineering performance and availability solutions.
  • Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
  • Excellent SQL and DB performance tuning skills.

AWS Database Administrator

Required Experience:

  • B.S in Computer Science or other equivalent technical discipline
  • 6+ years Database Administration experience with administering and supporting MS SQL Server, NoSQL and other databases on different platforms
  • 4+ years of working with cloud services like Amazon RDS, DynamoDB and ElasticCache
  • 3+ years data modeling experience with conducting performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scalability/capacity planning, in addition to SQL, PL/SQL capabilities
  • 3+ years IT troubleshooting/problem-solving experience.
