Maintenance Mechanic

Performs semi-skilled maintenance work in several crafts including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general all around maintenance. Installs, repairs, replaces or otherwise improves equipment/ facility operation and appearance.


  1. Electrical Repairs:  Performs electrical repairs. Repairs or replaces lighting and electrical devices. Cleans coils, replaces filters, and cleans and lubricates equipment.  Creates parts orders with all necessary ordering information to successfully repair facility equipment.

  2. Plumbing: Performs plumbing repairs including sinks, faucets, toilets and related plumbing fixture repairs and replacements; cleans drains and repairs pipes. Solders, brazes, or threads pipes as needed to ensure a neat, no-leak, safe system.

  3. Carpentry: Performs carpentry duties including acoustical ceiling track, tile, doors, furniture repair and assembly, and hanging shelves/pictures, etc. Repairs drywall and plaster walls to a like new finish that is ready for paint.

  4. Room Turnover: Assists in the refurbishment of vacant rooms by repairing and replacing furnishings and fixtures. Completes items on inspection sheet to ensure the proper operation of equipment and neat appearance of the resident room.

  5. General Maintenance: Performs general corrective maintenance duties including a variety of small or occasional “handy man” jobs. Performs exterior grounds work; cleans grounds by removing trash and debris. Detects and corrects unsafe conditions. Participates in snow/ice removal.

  6. Life Safety:  Complies with all safety programs and procedures. Provides support during emergency disaster situations. Maintains a safe, neat, and productive work environment in all equipment and shop areas. Maintains tools in good working condition; cleans tools and returns to proper place. Ensures safety of work area for staff, residents and visitors. Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, driving company vehicles for transportation or supply pickup.
