What are we looking for in a Behavioral Health Specialist?

Behavioral Health Specialists with PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment) provide mental health treatment to clients as part of a multidisciplinary team. Using evidence-based practices, Therapists provide clients and their families with support in learning new skills and connecting to community resources. Counseling and skill development may be provided through individual or group sessions, depending on need. As part of the PACT team, Behavioral Health Specialists coordinate with nurses, peer support counselors, case managers, and substance use treatment professionals to provide intensive treatment to clients with challenging and persistent mental health issues. This position requires regular on-call coverage outside of regular business hours.


Behavioral Health Specialist duties may include:

  • facilitating individual or family counseling and skill building sessions
  • leading behavioral health groups
  • providing mental health assessments for new program clients
  • developing an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with each client
  • assisting with case management such as assisting clients with completion of benefits paperwork or securing housing, monitoring of protective payee agreement, and connecting to community resources
  • monitoring client symptoms, medication response, and activities of daily living
  • completing all required clinical documentation in a timely and client-centered manner

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
