We have an immediate opportunity for a Plant Process Engineer to join a client that is a world leader in carbon and graphite materials at their refinery.  Think sunshine, white sandy beaches, low cost of living and great saltwater fishing, as this position is located on the beautiful gulf coast in TX!  Don't hesitate if this sounds good to you, because if you snooze, you lose!  This is not a sit in the office process design role as it more hands on with operating units.  You will be actively engaged 30% of your time in the processing units interacting with operations to solve problems and identify opportunities to optimize processes.

Duties
:  

  • Provide engineering to improve existing manufacturing processes and capabilities.

  • Implementation of system upgrades and modifications, including reviewing and preparing documentation.

  • Liaison with manufacturing team at all levels to resolve technical issues, applying your skills to design, optimize and troubleshoot equipment.

  • Provide engineering to improve existing manufacturing processes and capabilities.

  • Assess options for plant expansion or reconfiguration by developing and testing process simulation models

  • Work includes, process problem solving and troubleshooting for day to day operations.
  • Assist/lead in developing process models and financial models
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop countermeasure action plans
  • Creates documentation including SOP’s, training, validation of equipment, and reports.

  • Develop of process flow diagrams, block flow diagrams, system design parameters, and design or rating of equipment and apparatus such as heat exchangers, vessels, reactors, etc.

  • Provide process engineering for initial scoping of engineer projects and provide process review of detailed design of engineering projects.

  • Directs activities to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within budget.

  • Ensure each process plant is set up to provide maximum output levels and efficiency;

  • Identify emerging technologies for future implementation

  • Implement new manufacturing processes for existing and new products.

  • Maintains knowledge of all processes and equipment and acts as engineering resource.

  • Optimize current processes including performance consistency and cost effectiveness.

  • Verify product sampling, identification and traceability

  • Responsible for heat and material balance, development and use of process simulation.

  • Uses situation, potential problem, and decision analyses, risk assessments, DMAIC, LEAN methodologies.


Q

Qualifications: 


  • BS in chemical or petroleum engineering
  • Minimum 5+ years related experience in refining or chemical process industry.
  • Must have a strong background of working out on the unit floor, supporting, upgrading equipment and optimizing plant unit processes.  This is not a role for a chemical process design background alone.
  • Must have a strong understanding of process, mechanical and electrical engineering practices and processes, including mass and energy transfer and fluid flow.
  • Knowledgeable in process, mechanical and electrical engineering practices and processes, including mass and energy transfer and fluid flow.
  • Skilled with chemical plant / refinery process equipment operation, problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Quality Assurance practices and procedures expertise
  • Experience as a team leader in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Candidate must be skilled in increasing product quality and improving production efficiency
  • Able to support plants which are in continuous operation
  • 30% of time spent out in chemical operating unit environments. 
  • Physical requirements include ability to climb stair systems and vessel ladder systems in the unit.
  • Process modeling software experience
  • Advanced education is a plus
  • Professional Certifications are a plus
