Reporting to the Controller and as a valued member of the team, the Accountant has the opportunity to research and determine the proper application of both Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and GAAP accounting concepts in the preparation of the financial statements and regulatory filings to the various agencies. This position will engage with other departments, gathering the assumptions to be used in developing estimates used in the monthly statements. This position is responsible for applying financial accounting concepts to analyze and record financial information used in both internal and external financial reporting. In addition, this position compiles, reconciles, and interprets financial information to help determine whether the Company objectives are being met.
- College or university degree with a major in Accounting; and 3 to 5 years related accounting experience and/or training required.
- Financial statement preparation and/or general ledger experience required.
- Accounting experience in the insurance industry a plus.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint.
- Analytical with a high attention to detail and excellent problem solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with others, and able to share in the Company’s commitment to being “always here to help".
