JOB SUMMARY

 

Stearns Bank N.A. has a great job opportunity for a Portfolio Manager.  This position works directly with Commercial Lenders to assist in the day to day management and monitoring of their loan portfolios.  This position will communicate with current customers, potential customers, builders, and property managers to gather information to service and analyze new and current projects.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtain loan request information from commercial lender or borrower and provide preliminary review of credit information, financial statements, tax returns and other related information pertaining to the loan.

  • Assist commercial lender in loan structuring and loan decision process.  Identify and communicate points of exposure on current loans and well as possible solutions.

  • Monitor loan maturity dates, past dues, pre and post close reviews and analyze permanent commitment letters for conformity.

  • Monitor construction schedules—watch for lagging performance and over runs, for timely completion of projects, and receipt of certificate of occupancy, in conjunction with our construction department. 

  • Work with Commercial Lenders in monitoring problem loans including building and maintaining problem loan reports and assisting in working these loans to a safe conclusion for the bank.

  • Monitor underwriting process for new transactions, document renewals, modifications and covenant violations.

  • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s credit policies and procedures, guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Effectively monitor portfolio for revenue opportunities and/or loan exposures.

  • Work with clients to modify and/or restructure existing loans as needed.

  • Help resolve credit problems, delinquent payment issues and other related affairs.

  • Provide direction and work closely with lending assistants to maintain deadlines throughout the loan process.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all legal and regulatory compliance issues as they pertain to this position.

  • Loss prevention and security as applicable for this position.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university; and/or 2 to 3 years related banking experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements, cash flow, industry, competition and projections.

  • Strong knowledge of basic banking products, commercial lending products and ability to match solutions with the borrowers.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal direction.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Flexible.
