Financial Reporting Analyst

The Financial and Reporting Analyst is an Exempt role that reports to the Manager of Financial Systems and Analysis. Scheduled hours are Monday - Friday 8:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. (additional hours as required).


  • Create and ensure accuracy of standard and ad-hoc financial reports including month-end analyses and schedules.
  • Manage the development and testing of new standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Perform rate, variance, margin, compensation and other analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for staff and attorney departments.
  • Evaluate and report on budget/forecast deviations and identify causes and potential actions.
  • Prepare complex financial reports and financial documentation.
  • Interpret reporting requirements and assist in compiling data.
  • Create and maintain statistical reports.
  • Research and analyze financial data and variances.
  • Prepare responses to Firm survey requests.
  • Assist in RFP response preparation and financial review of lateral hiring activity.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as requested.


An experienced financial analyst possessing strong finance/accounting/systems skills. Demonstrated ability to identify, create, and produce financial reports essential for day-to-day and long term strategic operations.

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting and CPA and/or MBA preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years prior experience in financial analyst, query and reporting role, preferably in a law firm or professional services organization.
  • Strong financial system querying skills with understanding of data cleansing and normalization techniques.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Viewpoint or similar query/reporting software required.
  • Understanding of Data warehouse concepts and experience required.
  • Experience using Cognos TM1 or other similar budgeting/forecasting tools.
  • SQL query writing skills preferred and SQL server and OLAP experience preferred.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills, effective listening, presentation and facilitation skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the Firm.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated requiring minimal supervision
  • Able to multi-task and handle unstructured environment
  • Strong attention to detail and good business judgment.
  • Ability to deal effectively with change in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be well organized, work independently, comprehend business requirements and proactively identify systems and reporting capabilities to address those requirements.
  • Must be results-oriented, dependable, adhere to established time commitments and demonstrate strong customer service attributes and the ability to deliver results.
  • Ability to question and strong analytical skills.
