Role: Payroll Clerk
Start: ASAP
Duration - 3-6 months +
Location: Santa Clarita
Hours: M-F 8am to 5pm
Interview: In-Person, Hire/No Hire Decision

Responsibilities
• Continuously monitors assigned Payroll communication lines including email, phone, in person, HR Payroll Inquiry database and Fleet Payroll Department and CrewCard to respond to and resolve all inquiries and requests.
• Identifies escalated and time-sensitive communications, prioritizing them to provide same day responses to crew members, ship personnel, shore staff and/or vendors.
• Completes payroll adjustments in a timely and accurate manner, with proper justification and back-up documentation to support the calculation and/or issuance of additional pay.
• Completes Self Billing and Vendor Maintenance forms in a timely and accurate manner, with proper justification and back-up documentation, including complete banking information, ensuring that payments are processed with, and vendors are set up for, the next available payment run.
• Tracks and follows up with vessels to ensure timely receipt of pay data from vessels, including, but not limited to, commission, bonus, overtime, tip and other payment amounts to be included in payroll processes.
• Supports department's Finance-related needs including, but not limited to, properly coding allotments and payments in Markview, and assisting with journal preparation.
• Enters data correctly to update and maintain department files, records and forms, including creating and maintaining spreadsheets to calculate, track and/or organize payroll data.
• Distributes pay advices, wage slips, reports and other information as assigned in a timely manner.


Requirements
• Bachelor s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or related equivalent work experience.
• Two years of payroll or accounting experience.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel with working knowledge of computerized payroll systems.
• General understanding of wage and hour regulations is required.
• Well-developed planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems and to communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) with all levels of employees, management and customers.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities, to meet frequent deadlines, and to work with sensitive and confidential
