Materials Manager

Summary/Objective:

The Materials Manager position is responsible to manage all aspects of materials flow and to maintain control and accuracy over all materials, including all transactions, procurement, planning, scheduling, physical inventories, cycle counts, stocking levels and cost to ensure that Graver’s inventory assets are protected at all three manufacturing sites. Identifies processes and procedures that need improvement and facilitates the required changes.


Essential Functions The person in this position performs a variety of Material Manager functions and is responsible for:

  • Determines appropriate stocking levels of raw materials.
  • Ensures that physical inventories and cycle counts are completed on schedule.
  • Identifies root cause and analysis activities and implements corrective actions to mitigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Serves as the primary materials resource for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement. 
  • Formulates and executes plans of action for continuous improvement.
  • Expedite orders with vendors who are failing to deliver as needed.
  • Ensure that inventory turn goals and DOH inventory goals are achieved.
  • Communicates with vendors and company personnel to discuss and resolve inventory problems as required. 
  • Works closely with the Operations groups to ensure the right tools and strategies are being implemented and used to ensure successful organization, planning and use of materials.
  • Works with the Quality and Engineering groups to ensure adequate specifications and other requirements are established and adhered to. Work with the Quality department as it relates to vendor quality issues and any CAPA’s involving material issues.
  • Ensure that working capital is reduced to 15% or less.
  • Achieves any cost reduction goals that are assigned.
  • Works with sites to disposition obsolete materials.
  • Participate in the company’s CIP program.
  • Leads cost savings and inventory reduction initiatives at all locations. Including VAVE projects and 80/20 activities.

Education: 4-year degree preferred


Experience:

Seven (7) years of experience in Material Management systems implementation and management, with three (3) years in a medium-size manufacturing environment. 


Travel:

Any travel would be primarily to Newark, NJ, and Honeoye Falls, NY, facilities, although some additional out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Travel up to 30%
