The purpose of this position is to support sales and client retention through excellent customer service by maintaining the overall technology environment of the company.

FLSA Status



This position, under limited supervision, reports to the Technical Support Manager and does not supervise other positions.

Essential Duties

  • Monitors servers and network equipment with various monitoring tools.
  • Monitors and manages voice related technologies and systems.
  • Manages and administers cloud based platforms, ranging from hosted environments to SaaS applications.
  • Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  • Maintains current patching levels of software updates, hardware, firmware, and drivers. 
  • Maintains site licenses for departments/organization.
  • Anticipates communication and networking problems and implements preventive measures. 
  • Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Oversees enterprise backup and recovery systems, ensures that adequate backup software and hardware are in place, manages offsite data storage, and evaluates offsite alternatives for redundancy.  Maintains disaster recovery plan for IT Department.  Assists and/or directs disaster recovery activities and planning, along with completion of assigned items, monitors plan and performs dry-run testing.
  • Evaluates and/or recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
  • Investigates user problems, identifies their source, determines possible solutions, tests, and implements solutions.
  • Assists with the Help Desk functions, answers user calls and ticket requests as assigned.  Reviews queue of tickets and assists in resolving and delegating tickets.  Monitors backlogs and escalates accordingly.  Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference to establish a technical knowledge base.
  •  Plans and implements network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, files system integrity, and adds and deletes users.  Manages enterprise antivirus systems. 
  • Establishes and performs maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
  • Investigates, recommends, and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize system availability.
  • Maintains domain name documentation, coordinates setup and maintenance of external services related to company websites.
  • Maintains confidentially with regard to the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with vendors and service providers.  Monitors service agreements and coordinates renewal of services.
  • Maintains documentation of system infrastructure.
  • Maintains current knowledge of new technology, system life cycles, and proactively recommends upgrades for technology changes.  Maintains awareness of industry best practices and applies within the organization. 
  • Manages and monitors day to day operations of the SAN (Storage Area Network)
  • Provides training and technical direction for junior members of the IT team.

Must Have:

Sr level engineer who is highly skilled in both Windows Administration and network/firewalls, including Meraki switches, wireless MX firewalls, Cisco/HP/Dell switches and Checkpoint firewalls.   

Experience with voice services/telephony is also required.  

From a MS perspective, must be familiar with Server 2003 thru 2016 in additional to all desktop based O/S. Will be an escalation point for helpdesk staff.  Security experience would also be a plus, as will have numerous initiatives in the coming year in this area.

1.    Ability to speak, see, and hear.

2.    Ability to use hands and arms to reach, handle, and operate various office machines including, but not limited to a printer, copier, fax, 10 key calculator, keyboard, and telephone.

3.    Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
