Design Engineer

Seagrave Fire Apparatus, LLC Clintonville Full-Time

This position is responsible for one area (pump, body, cab, aerial, etc.) of apparatus design on a custom fire apparatus. The candidate must have a good working knowledge of design principals.  This role requires a Design Engineer who can take responsibility for apparatus design including providing support to both the manufacturing & sales departments. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Creation of detail, weldment, & assembly drawings consistent with company and industry standards.
  • Development of bills of materials to support product orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2-dimensional product sales drawings.
  • Develop engineering documents in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Create engineering documentation for customer orders adhering to company schedule.
  • Assist sales and customers with product interpretation.
  • Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting issues.
  • Insure internal sales specifications and related engineering bills of material are consistent and accurate.
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies into new designs.
  • Insures all designs comply with guidelines established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

·  Minimum of 2-year Technical degree or 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.

·  Proficient in SolidWorks 3-D design software.

·  Intermediate level computing skills with experience in Microsoft Word & Excel.

·  Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects and meet task goals.

·  Good communications skills, problem solving ability and the ability to positively influence teams.

·  Maintain confidentiality of company information and documents.

·  Understanding and knowledge of sheet metal design, manufacturing, and fabrication capabilities.

·  Understanding of Solidworks Enterprise Product Data Management software.

·  Strong mechanical aptitude.

·  Strong multi-tasking ability.  May be working on multiple projects simultaneously.

·  Familiarity with computerized quote system or product configurator.

·  Comfortable with presentation of facts and ideas to individuals and groups.

·  Knowledge of fire apparatus, or related mobile equipment and markets is highly desired.

·  Self-Motivated personality and desire to achieve positive results.
