Job Description
Nerd Power looking for an Electrician to join our Costa Mesa California team. The Nerd Power Electrician
will perform photovoltaic power system tie-ins on residential and commercial projects.
Job Responsibilities
Nerd Power Electrician will apply knowledge of NEC to be a resource for field operations
regarding code requirements and AHJ expectations. They will act as quality control for electrical
work being done by field operations. They will coordinate with various jurisdictions and utilities
to ensure Nerd Power methods are both up to code and acceptable to the utilities. Must be
willing to work occasional weekends and overnight out of town.
Job Requirements

- Ability to handle Main Panel Upgrades on a daily basis
- Ability to lead and direct apprentices in proper electrical industry installation practices
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills

- Knowledge about residential service rebuilds and additions as well as grounding and bonding
in accordance with local codes and practices
- Ability to install EMT conduit using a hand bender and pull wire
- Ability/willingness to work on top of residential rooftops as needed to aid in solar project

  • Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects
  • Assume a leadership role in the day to day operation of the work center
  • Perform technical work to ensure that equipment and machinery relating to quality/testing activities are maintained at best working conditions with minimum down time
  • Install and repair of outboard hydraulic steering systems
  • Ensure all employees punch in and out at the prescribed times
  • Fabricate parts if not commercially available, using machine and hand tools common to the trade
  • Complete weekly department ordering functions
  • Receive and screens telephone calls and visitors
  • Responsibile for assisting all trades, loading and unloading equipment, materials and supplies
  • Experienced in applying tempmat and block insulation to components such as turbines, pump
  • Use electronic measuring devices such as voltmeters, ammeters, o-meters
  • Taking measurements in accordance with the requirement(s) of any vessel project
  • Implement Lock-out Tag-out for work being performed
  • Create a positive work environment
  • Maintain the Company's professional reputation

  • Clean, and lubricate paint gun, regulators, tanks, and hoses
  • Calibrate gages in accordance with OEM instruction
