OPERATIONS FINANCIAL ANALYST

Analyze data, identify actionable savings opportunities, and present meaningful insights/recommendations to a variety of stakeholders in order to make effective business decisions. Consistently provides world class customer service to internal and external customers. Performs other related work.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer. Provide exceptional customer service with others by telephone, email and in person.
Build financial/statistical models and perform advanced quantitative data analysis on large amounts of operational data.
Identify and report on actionable opportunities, such as identifying geographical and product category outliers and trends.
Perform financial analysis on capital expenditures and scenario comparisons using discounted cash flow and internal rate of return, including breakeven & sensitivity analysis on key variables.
Synthesize data discoveries with business acumen to present meaningful insights & recommendations to a broad range of stakeholders.
Build strong partnerships and collaborate with retail/warehouse operations and support departments to achieve strategic initiatives by providing analytical support.
Work closely with IT to identify data gaps, improve data integrity and design exception based reporting.
Manage financial reporting initiatives and projects, which includes monitoring progress, coordinating activities, resolving problems, and making adjustments as needed to meet deadlines.
Drive efficiency with internal processes.
Train end users on reporting functionality.
May build predictive models to accurately forecast sales volumes and other key performance measures in order to assist operations with decisions, such as order quantities and labor scheduling.
May develop an understanding of inventory management processes and controls in order to identify root causes of shrink losses for specific departments, categories and items.
May develop pro forma P&L, discounted cash flow and internal rate of return on potential new store locations.
May complete financial analysis on warehouse and transportation capital and operating decisions, such as distribution network optimization, warehouse automation analysis, and equipment replacement cycles
May assist procurement with evaluating contract proposals and inventory management decisions, such as forward buy models to optimize inventory levels with price brackets/promotions
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive information.
Demonstrate skills in analysis methods and project management.
Quickly learn functionality of new software reporting applications.
Be extremely self-motivated, have a high level of intellectual curiosity, take initiative and drive results.
Multi-task and work in a fast-paced, multiple-priority environment.
Write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings.
Occasionally work evenings and weekends in order to meet deadlines.
Sit for extended periods of time.
Machines and Equipment Operated:
Office machines (computer terminal, copier/scanner, telephone, etc.)
Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:
Graduate degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics or related field.
Five (5) years’ work experience interpreting and analyzing financial and/or statistical information, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail, and making recommendations.
Proficiency with statistical modeling programs (R, Python, etc.).
Proficiency with business intelligence software (MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc.).
Experience with data extraction using SQL.
Accounting, Finance or Analytics certification (CPA, CFA, CAP, etc.).

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics or related field.
At least three (3) years of demonstrated experience interpreting and analyzing financial and/or statistical information, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail, and making recommendations OR One (1) year of demonstrated experience interpreting and analyzing financial and/or statistical information, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail, and making recommendations plus any one of the preferred education, experience or credential items listed below.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting/finance principles and exceptional math/statistics skills.
Exhibiting excellent communication skills (oral and written), strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrating expert level knowledge in MS Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.) software.
