Job Description

Peterson Spring is an industry leader in the manufacture of metal products, clamps and sub-assemblies for the Industrial, Heavy Truck and Automotive Markets.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to manage the relationship between the company and its customers in accordance with sales/marketing strategies with the overall objective of maintaining and growing business profitably.  The representative will serve as the primary contact at the sales level and as the main source of communication for customer service and for new business opportunities between the company and customers.  Will represent the company in all functional areas by performing the following duties:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Includes the following; other duties may be assigned. 

Plan, develop, and implement strategies to obtain new business from targeted customers in accordance with strategic growth plan. 

 

Analyze sales and forecast data to determine progress against stated goals and objectives.

 

Serve as the liaison between the sales department and manufacturing facilities to identify opportunities and to ensure goals are met and plant roles are carried out. 

 

Gather market intelligence and communicate the data internally.

 

Evaluate and assist in customer application of potential products.

 

Coordinate customer visits and meetings, as needed, that include other functional areas within Peterson Spring, including customer visits to Peterson Spring locations.

 

Develop and maintain professional relationships with key contacts at current and target customers to focus on new business opportunities and improving profitability.

 

Serve as the lead between Customer Engineering and Peterson to provide accurate understanding of customer design requirements and support product design within Peterson.

Effectively engage with customer on technical matters and serve as liaison between customer and the company.

 

Negotiate pricing in accordance with company policy.

 

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Two or Four year degree in engineering or related field plus two to four years of sales experience in a technical role, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred. 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents including blueprints, technical procedures and contracts. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and contracts.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, customers and suppliers.   Ability to respond to questions, inquiries, or complaints.  Effective interpersonal skills necessary to communicate, solve problems, and negotiate.  Ability to influence others.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with fundamental business math, such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions furnished in mathematical or diagram form.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to use a personal computer to produce reports, presentations, and spreadsheets using Windows-based software, including Microsoft Office (proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). The candidate must be able to develop creative problem solving ideas and possess the ability to “think outside the box” to develop and recommend customer solutions.  The ability to negotiate and be persuasive in dealing with the customer is required.
