Job Description


Under the direct supervision of the Director of Residential Operations, the Campus Supervisor insures the harmonious and safe daily conduct of the groups, and the overall care and well being of Maryvale in accordance with the Maryvale treatment program guidelines.


  1. Provide supervision, protection and care of the children individually and in groups at all times.
  2. Cooperates and participates with treatment team to plan effective interventions for residents, particularly those in crisis.
  3. Participate and/or lead crisis interventions as necessary.
  4. Maintain a daily log of all activity in the Campus Support Office.
  5. Continuously assess the tone of each group; make rounds throughout the shift; provide assistance where needed.
  6. Interface with representatives of outside agencies e.g. DCFS, PMRT, emergency services (police and fire), visitors, volunteers, and others as necessary.
  7. Review and complete required paperwork e.g. logging, incident reports, update files, maintenance requests, and evening and weekend reports by the end of each shift.
  8. Schedule On-Call Associates when necessary.
  9. Interface with On-call Administrator and health services office as per Maryvale policies and procedures; deliver and deal with medication related issues as necessary.
  10. Maintain safety of campus through established procedures. Perform lockup procedures, and insure security of all buildings and grounds.

2. Create an atmosphere of enthusiasm and energetic commitment and serve as a role model in carrying out the Mission.

3. Promote and support the attitudes, behaviors, knowledge and skills necessary to work respectfully and effectively with each other as well as demonstrate the ability to address the needs of the children and families Maryvale serves.

4. Follow the Trauma Informed Care philosophy when supporting and addressing the needs of the children and families Maryvale serves.

5. Utilize Trauma Informed Care approach in recognizing the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledge the role that trauma has played in the lives of the clients/residents.

6. Assist in the healing process by developing appropriate RICH® (Respect, Information, Connection and Hope) relationships with those served.

7. Follow Universal Precautions when exposed to blood and body fluids.

8. Follow Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulations pertaining to safety and the use of equipment/machinery.

9. Support Maryvale’s Performance and Quality Improvement Plan and participate in discussion regarding department or program goals, data collection and/or analysis.

  1. Adjust staffing patterns as necessary to insure the safety and stability of all residential groups.
  2. Coordinate and schedule coverage of overflow transportation request.
  3. Coordinate, schedule and monitored visits as requested.
  4. Coordinate and provide supervision of clients to and from doctor appointments as necessary.
  5. Works with treatment team (group supervisor, assistant supervisor, group social worker and resident Associates) to plan effective interventions for residents, particularly, those in crisis.
  6. Serve as support system for resident Associates, particularly during time of crisis.
  7. Perform lockup procedures, and insure security of all buildings and grounds.
  8. Monitors the Maryvale telephone communication system on nights, holidays and weekends.
  9. Report any maintenance problems to necessary associates, maintenance department and outside parties when necessary.
  10. Communicate overall tone of Agency to Administrator’s as necessary.
  11. Interface with health services office as per Maryvale policies and procedures.
  12. Delivers and deals with medication related issues as necessary.
  13. Completes and maintains all necessary training to ensure compliance with Maryvale policies and licensing regulations.
  14. Provide assistance to each child in working with a group and in handling individual problems.
  15. Administration of discipline and setting of limits for behavior of clients.
  16. Notation of the child’s progress; identification of the possible need for professional services; and communication of such findings to professional staff.
  17. Provide supervision, protection and care of the children individually and in groups at all times.
  18. Provide assistance in dressing, grooming, bathing and other personal hygiene.
  19. Assistance with taking medication, as necessary.
  20. Ensure that medication shall be kept in a safe and locked place that is not accessible to persons other than associates responsible for the supervision of the centrally stored medication.
  21. Ensure assistance is provided to the children in meeting their medical and dental needs.
  22. Maintenance of house rules for the protection of clients.
  23. Supervision of client schedules and activities.
  24. Maintenance and/or supervision of client cash resources or property.
  25. Monitoring food intake or special diets.
  26. Assist as needed in tracking SIR documents to CCL, OHC-DCFS, and other parties required
  27. Ensure office duties in CSO department are completed, up to date, and are evolving with the residential program.
  28. Act as Facility Manager after business hours, weekends, holidays, and as needed.
  29. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements


1. Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree preferred or;

  • Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit;
  • Have Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Educations and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
  • Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
  • Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journey person who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with yours; or
  • Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at that group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for at least one year.

2. Respond to life threatening situations.

3. Prevent and/or intervene using LSCI and/or PROACT in crisis situations.

4. First Aid trained, PROACT training.

5. Multi-task and work effectively under high-pressure situations.

6. Manage and assist in chaotic and potentially dangerous situations.

7. Problem-solve and make sound judgments relative to staff and clients under his/her care.

8. Have a thorough understanding of the special needs of at-risk children.

9. Have a thorough understanding of the agency’s policies and procedures, inter-relationships, and departments.

10. Able to drive agency vehicles.

11. Valid California Drivers license

4. Have the physical capacity to work with and restrain children as needed.
