Carrier Sales Representative

JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for building relationships with transportation providers and negotiating rates to transport customer product within North America over the road. This role is accountable to manage loads on a daily basis with external carriers with a high level of service to the carriers in order to maintain and grow the relationship.




KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to)

  1. Negotiate rates with motor carriers and collaborate with team to ensure maximum profitability
  2. Coordinate available carrier capacity with customer freight. Collaborate with internal sales team to sell into available capacity.
  3. Provide a high level of support to carriers to solidify effective business partnerships
  4. Research new carrier prospects, new contacts, and map/segment the marketplace for lane usage; and manage and grow contacts with carriers in your developing portfolio.
  5. Collaborate with the Customer Sales team to streamline processes.
  6. Manage performance expectations through carrier account metrics.
  7. Communicate with motor carriers to schedule tracks and resolve issues.
  8. Verify all freight charges, confirm receipt of Bill of Lading, and resolve rate discrepancies prior to final payment to motor carrier.
  9. Continuously prospect and on-board quality carriers to ensure we can execute according to our customers' shipping requirements.
  10. Procure competitive market rates by negotiating pricing with carriers on both the spot and contracted levels.
  11. Build internal relationships within the Livingston client-facing teams to grow your book of business.
  12. Leverage Livingston technology to make meaningful and target load offers to carrier network.
  13. Continually partner with Product/Pricing Team on opportunities for pending RFPs/RFIs for new client-specific lanes.
  14. Additional duties as assigned.
