What we’re looking for:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and a great work ethic. Hard-working individuals looking for a great environment and a chance to make a difference will fit right in. Your primary role will be taking care of our animals and sanitizing their housing and our buildings. There may be some heavy lifting and some dirty work involved but, if you love the idea of spending your day with animals, it’s worth it to take care of our little heroes.

What you’ll need:

You’ll need a high school diploma or a GED to begin as an Animal Caretaker. What we really want is someone who doesn’t mind hard-work, being hands-on, and ensuring our animals have the best care possible. If you have passion, dedication, and a positive attitude you have what it takes to join the Sinclair Team!

SUMMARY: Performs a variety of animal care duties including the care and handling of animals and their environment.



  • Follow all SOPs pertaining to the area of work.
  • Feed and water animals according to schedules as instructed.  Ensure all animals have access to water and/or water delivery systems are functioning properly.
  • Inspect floors for any potential obstruction to the drains, and remove prior to cleaning. Clean animal enclosures and accessories daily; and sanitize cages and pens according to schedule. The Caretaker shall maintain cleaning and sanitation standards and methodologies as set forth by management.
  • Record information according to instructions such as husbandry, ventilation, socialization, diet, and/or vermin control activities in facility and/or study data.
  • Participate in quarterly sanitation procedures of research animal housing and support areas.
  • Ensure that support areas are organized, free of clutter, and appropriate supplies are available. Store chemicals, feed, bowls, and enrichment supplies labeled appropriately and as directed.
  • Participate in the detection of sick animals.
  • Assist in transportation of animal and participate in the handling of animals.
  • Participate in environmental enrichment and socialization of animals. Report inappropriate room temperatures, ventilation issues, animal enclosure defects, lighting, or mechanical problems promptly to the supervisor.
  • Perform maintenance tasks and occasional renovation/construction work of buildings and grounds.
  • Dispose of facility wastes and composting materials regularly.

Participate regularly in weekend duties.
