RealStreet currently has a great opportunity for a Cost Engineer - Estimator in Ridgecrest, CA. This individual will be working on a Government contract to provide oversight duties for individual construction projects. Job Responsibilities

The Cost Engineer – Estimator will be responsible for analyzing and estimating extensive architectural/engineering alterations and modifications to existing facilities and new facilities on projects with a value in the range of $100M-$400M.

Responsibilities of the Cost Engineer – Estimator include:

  • Providing analysis to determine cost projections, including:
    • Designs
    • Drawings
    • Proposals
    • Scopes of Work
  • Developing comprehension budget cost estimates for complex construction assemblies and building system composites for all facility project types, including:
    • Multi-family housing facilities
    • Industrial and operational facilities
  • Developing detailed cost estimates for project under construction either Design-Build or Design-Bid-Build
  • Performing Quality Control and Quality Assurance and reviews of complex cost estimates
  • Identifying project cost exposures
  • Providing recommendations for cost-effecting solutions
  • Participating in pre-award and post-award meetings
  • Reviewing proposals for adherence to bid documents, including:
    • Notifying of any issues
    • Discrepancies or duplication by contractor
  • Visiting construction sites to monitor progress including the review of estimates

Specific qualifications for the Cost Engineer – Estimator role include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited ABET university or an architectural degree from an NAAB accredited university
  • 10 years minimum experience in cost estimating on commercial / industrial type facilities contracts with at least five (5) values in excess of $50 million
  • 5 years minimum experience working with architectural, engineering or construction firms in the design field on commercial / industrial type facilities with at least five (5) valued in excess of $10 million with experience that shall demonstrate:
    • Advanced understanding of all phases of design
    • Knowledge of local, state, federal and foreign country laws, codes and other statutory requirements affecting cost estimating
    • Knowledge of budgeting, planning and project cost management techniques
    • Coordinating architectural design with the engineering disciplines for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects
  • Software skills, including a minimum of five years (5) experience, utilizing all aspects of:
    • RS Means CostWorks
    • Success Estimator (NAVFAC Approved)
    • Micro-computer Aided Cost Estimating System (MCAES) Second Generation (MII)
    • Autodesk
    • Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Ability to manually move about construction jobsites
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is preferred
  • Certification as a PMP with the Project Management Institute or CCM with the Construction Management Association of America is highly desirable
  • Three (3) years’ experience working on NAVFAC or Army Corps of Engineers projects is preferred
  • Must have a valid, current Driver’s License
  • Must be a US Citizen
