This position consists of the responsibility of preparing journal entries, period and year-end closings, bank reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Responsible for elements of internal reporting during the period close. Assist Controller with the development and implementation of accounting policies. This position will be responsible to producing financial statements, cash flow projections and budgets.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Major Duties & Responsibilities - Accounting
1.1. Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system.
1.2. Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
1.3. Reconcile balance sheet accounts including, but not limited to cash, prepaid accounts, expenses, and accrued liabilities.
1.4. Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation.
1.5. Analyze inventory and food cost to determine profitability and communicate recommendations for improvement to management.
1.6. Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
1.7. Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner, clearly communicate period, quarterly, and annual financial statements including variances.
1.8. Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files.
2. Secondary Responsibilities
2.1. Assist with period, quarterly, and annual close.
2.2. Record vendor invoices to proper general ledger account and department.
2.3. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
3. Special Skills and Duties
3.1. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
3.2. Knowledge of GAAP.
3.3. Comprehensive knowledge of account reconciliation.
3.4. High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
4. Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge
4.1. Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
4.2. 2 to 4 years of previous accounting experience preferred.
4.3. Excellent math skills.
4.4. Microsoft applications knowledge, including advanced Excel skills.
4.5. Knowledge of Restaurant 365 program a plus.
4.6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Physical Environment/Working Conditions
5.1. Position is a desk based position in a professional office environment, controlled by central air and heat.
5.2. Must be able to sit or stand long term, typing on a keyboard, and use of a computer 90% of workday.
5.3. Ability to use a telephone, talk, listen, and engage in interactive conversation.
5.4. Requires interaction with others in the work environment.
6. Equipment used
6.1. Computer, office telephone, copier, printer and general office equipment.
7.1. Ability to act in discrete manner in dealing with confidential issues and data. Possess impulse control and frustration tolerance, and be able to manage time and multiple competing demands.
