Job Description


This position is responsible for the evaluation of commercial credit risk and deal structure for commercial & industrial and commercial real estate customers.   Prepare a thorough analysis of all aspects of the credit, including the preparation of financial/industry projections in conformance with established Credit Union policies, strategies and procedures for new loan requests, renewals and annual reviews.  Review standard loan documentation for conformance with approval terms.


Prepare Credit Approval Memoranda for presentation to Loan Approval Hierarchy.

Prepare spread sheets and credit analyses to properly assess cash flow, capacity, collateral and all major risks associated with the Credit Union lending to these businesses.

Conduct periodic portfolio reviews, and credit & legal file audits.

Assist loan officer with loan closing process

Manage credit renewals and maturities via portfolio monitoring.

Interact with lending officers to obtain appropriate information to complete a credit analysis.

Occasionally attend joint calls with the commercial loan officer to gather more information about the business.

Maintain tickler for borrower covenant compliance and financial reporting requirements. Participate in credit training curriculum.

Assists with special projects or other duties as assigned

COMPLIANCE: Maintain an excellent understanding of applicable regulations and laws including but not limited to; Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; and Fair Lending. Maintain an up to date understanding of credit union policies and procedures as they relate to compliance.   Consistently complete appropriate compliance training.

Education and/or Experience: BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics. Over 7 year’s specific work experience or a combination of Education and Work Experience.   

Other Skills and Abilities

Strong technical and analytical skills            

Effective written and verbal communication skills     

Thorough knowledge of credit policy, procedures, regulations and applicable law

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Proficient in financial spreadsheet programs, i.e. Statement Analyzer, FAST, FAMAS.

Proficient in general web based applications and Adobe Reader.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
