Job Description

Walnut Street Finance, a fast-growing real estate private lender, is looking to hire a Loan Underwriter & Portfolio Manager. The Loan Underwriter and Construction Manager will:

  • Investigate real estate properties in question and make assessments about as-is and after-repair value
  • Research project costs for remodeling and renovating the subject property
  • Conduct risk assessments on potential clients based on previous borrowing history, credit rating, industry experience and other factors
  • Request additional information from Loan Officers when appropriate
  • Prepare and sign off on reports detailing risk assessment findings and other data that contribute to lending decisions
  • Process, post and maintain files on draw requests per company policies and procedures
  • Build, update and monitor draw schedule spreadsheets
  • Perform ratio analysis
  • Visit job sites with third party inspectors and loan originators 
  • Conduct draw inspections
  • Perform comp analysis
  • Attend sales meetings
  • Develop relationships with borrowers

Job Requirements

  • 1+ year of real estate underwriting and customer service experience

  • Detail-oriented

  • Communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to work independently
