Mechanical Engineer - Work Remote & 30% Travel

Messina Group is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer for a direct hire position with our client in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Our client specializes in building and construction products for commercial and residential applications using a variety of materials including aluminum, steel and composites, and is experiencing tremendous growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under direct supervision, creates and makes changes to technical drawings according to specific instruction, and clearly marked sketches along with writing and maintaining configuration rules and other documents
  • Resolves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures
  • Recommend updates and provide solutions based on product standards, specifications, and agency requirements
  • Coordinate with operations, quality assurance, and vendors as needed to ensure compliance to agency standards
  • Analyze existing products and make recommendations for cost improvements (value engineering)
  • Provide technical support to marketing, field service, quality assurance, production, and contract manufacturers
  • Complete 4-6 months onsite training in Ohio, schedule will be established with candidate’s input


QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with one to two years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • General knowledge of engineering and manufacturing policies and operations, including production control, quality control and electrical product or industrial engineering.
  • Familiar with common manufacturing processes (casting, 3D models, patterns, machining, & stamping)
  • Technical competency in areas relating to metal materials, business values, & Project Management
  • Demonstrate proficiency in tools such as Microsoft suite of tools, Pro-E/CREO, PDMLink, Configured product
  • Experience communicating goals, processes and procedures to subordinate engineers with various skill sets
  • Articulate and skillful at creating information, written or otherwise
  • Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems
  • Exhibits good analytical skills with ability to organize and implement engineering projects to detailed timelines and budgets
  • Understanding of engineering standards, principles and theories
  • Excellent collaborative interpersonal skills, ability to interface and communicate well with numerous stakeholders
  • Willing to direct and receive direction from others
  • Must have good multi-tasking skills and be flexible to shifting priorities
  • Required - 30% travel, mostly to Wilmington, Ohio

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3-6 years of relevant experience in a product, project, or support engineer role with a wide spectrum of processes for a manufacturer
  • Strong Experience with metallurgy, standards testing, architectural design
  • 3D CAD software expertise (Pro/E, Creo - preferred)
  • Familiar with product lifecycle management software (Windchill - preferred)
  • Experience working with team members in multiple countries and across several time zones (offshore contracted engineering, international suppliers
  • Working knowledge of MS Project, or equivalent
  • Exposure working with regulatory/listing agencies

  • Schedule: 8am – 5pm
  • Location: Remote/Work from home, +30% travel, mostly to Wilmington, Ohio
