Our client, an automotive technology company in the metro Detroit area, seeks to add a Technical Accounting Manager to their successful and growing team. The primary function of the role will be to utilize your technical accounting knowledge and research staying up to date on new accounting guidelines to support us in assessing the impact on our business and reporting.
Respo nsibilities to include:
- Stay up-to-date on new accounting guidance and help assess the impact on the business and reporting environment
- Develop and manage accounting policies supporting compliance with US GAAP
- Develop and manage GAAP technical accounting memos, collaborating with key stakeholders both locally and globally related to new or complex transactions
- Assume responsibility for the accounting and reporting for areas of technical accounting, including but not limited to derivatives, leasing, unconsolidated joint ventures, revenue recognition, capitalized software/engineering, and other technical areas as required
Requirements:
- A Bachelors and/or Master’s degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- A minimum of 4 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience ideally including experience at a Big 4 firm
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and the ability to independently research complex accounting topics
- Proficiency with MS Excel and Word
- Demonstrated experience in technical accounting and strength in conducting accounting research
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write clear and concise communications on technical accounting and reporting matters
- The ability to effectively interface with global team members, peers, internal stakeholders and leadership
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability prioritize and manage multiple tasks or assignments and consistently meet or exceed deadlines
- Proficiency with financial reporting systems (e.g. HFM, QAD, Wdesk)
