  •        Title:  Manufacturing Buyer  
  •        Location: Miami, FL
  •        Industry: Nutraceutical    
  •        Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00 am-5:00 pm
  •        Salary: $55k-$65k
  •        Employment Type: Permanent – Direct Hire   

Job Scope:

  • Source and purchase packaging components for CMO nutraceutical environment; labels, bottles, caps, etc. One may also be involved with sourcing raw materials, lab chemicals, reagents, goods and services required by Production, Engineering, QA and QC and other BUs
  • Select materials based on specifications; select vendor on basis of price, capability and past performance
  • Follow up on orders, delivery dates and expedite delivery of materials to meet target dates, prevent excessive inventory and avoid stock shortages
  • Maintain “just-in-time” level of inventory
  • Interfaces with Technical Services, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and vendors to resolve quality issues
  • Resolution of claims with suppliers and carriers
  • Enter materials data information into computer data base and manage Technical and Regulatory documents for each material
  • Search and qualify alternate vendors to create competition and avoid back orders.
  • Maintain List of Approved suppliers
  • Maintain accurate vendor files, including price histories and any problems in doing business with vendors
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Aggressively seek and secure cost savings and/or cost avoidance on raw materials and/or site services

Skills Needed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 5 years’ buying experience within pharmaceutical or related industry in a manufacturing environment
  • One must have experience buying packaging components 
  • Good understanding of cGMP, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Production planning desired, but not required
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel
  • Able to effectively communicate in English written and oral
  • Good knowledge of basic mathematical skills, including measurement
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
