The Accounting/ Finance Director (Healthcare industry) oversees and manages all aspects of accounting, finance, financial reporting, business analytics, internal controls, financial management and asset management. This role supervises and manages staff within the Finance and Accounting department.
**Accounting/finance experience in Healthcare is required**
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, MBA and/or a CPA is preferred
Requires 5 years of accounting and financial analysis and forecasting experience in a health care setting required
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for non-profit organizations
Minimum of 3 years of supervision experience including hiring, training and evaluation.
Ability to translate financial concepts to colleagues who do not have finance backgrounds
Ability to strategically analyze and plan for changes in financial conditions, risk profiles, and emerging trends
Proficient computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office and financial management software
In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
An analytical mind with a strategic ability
Excellent follow-up and tracking skills in addition to the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting and Reporting
Manage general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and cash receipts activity, including preparation of all general ledger entries and ensuring accuracy of all transactions, account analysis and bank reconciliations. Ensure all transactions adhere to accepted accounting principles.
Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements, including key indicator reporting and distribute to appropriate department personnel; ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables
Allocation of expenses by departments, grants and funding sources.
Coordinate reconciliation of accounts receivable to the medical billing system, accruals and prepaid expenses.
Generate custom reports that provide analysis of department specific income, expense and payroll information to meet grant and other funding requirements.
Manage and develop automated and standardized reporting solutions to predict trends, develop strategy, and evaluate organizational performance.
Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of services, expenses, and capital expenditures.
Manage preparation of audit documentation. Coordinate and interface with auditors to facilitate the year-end audit processes.
Manage fixed assets recordkeeping and reporting.
Oversee inventory control processes in partnership with Logistics. Ensure timely and accurate completion of inventory counts and adjusting entries.
Supervises the Accountant and Accounting Associates.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Together with COO manage timely annual budget preparation.
Coordinate with department supervisors regarding budget and financial statement inquiries, investigating discrepancies and providing reports and analysis as needed.
Maintain cash flow forecast and reporting as requested.
Maintain working knowledge of ADP payroll processing system and procedures in order to supervise the Accounting Associate and administer payroll as required.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Identifies data needs and/or requirements of billing and finance staff and senior management; develops and produces a range of reports to address these needs, including but not limited to rejection reports, error reports, accounts receivable reports, revenue forecasts, ad hoc reports, and financial reporting requirements.
Develop and report on benchmarks and key indicators of revenue cycle functions to be communicated on various timeframes including daily, weekly, and monthly basis and to various audiences including the Board, senior management, risk management and agency staff. Ensure that metrics are continuously measured, monitored and improved.
Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI.
Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes.
Implement and work with dashboard reports.
Support leadership team and departments with in-depth analysis.
Compile and submit quarterly and annual health services data to the national office.
