Sirius is currently looking for a Senior Naval Architect for a long term contract position in Pascagoula, MS.
Performs routine naval architecture work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of design and/or analysis of ship hull, foundation, superstructure, arrangements and hull form characteristics tasks. As directed, applies selected techniques and procedures to assignments involving ship design and ship performance analysis. Assists in the solution of difficult problems involved in areas of assignment. Uses prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of broader systems design, performance analysis, or hull form characteristic assignments of more experienced naval architects. The duties described herein cover major duties as required. However, this does not exclude the requirement of performing related duties under normal conditions, and other duties directed by supervision. Works directly with senior technical personnel and project managers in the planning and execution of technical activities on complex projects related to system and technical product development. Employs existing guidelines and instructions, guidance from higher-level engineers, experience, and independent judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives. Assignments may require the development of improvements to current designs, techniques and procedures.

BS from an accredited program in Naval Architecture plus 10 years related experience.
Preferably experience working in a commercial shipyard engineering design office or a naval architecture firm supporting commercial new-build design activities.
Knowledgeable in naval architecture standards, practices, and analytic tools.
Ability to apply regulatory body requirements, ship specifications, and other technical guidance to develop conforming designs and modifications to ships and craft.
Experience performing complex analysis of hull forms to include predicting hydrodynamic performance, seakeeping, and scaling model tests to full size trials.
Weight and stability analysis, including development of weight and center of gravity estimates, performance of intact and damaged stability analysis, performance of deadweight surveys and inclining experiments.
Concept and feasibility design studies addressing whole ship sizing and performance analysis, requirements validation, and design optimization.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
