DUTIES:

  • In partnership with the Director, Ambulatory Quality and Patient Safety, the Program Manager, Quality & Patient Safety strategically evaluates, develops, and implements the company's ambulatory quality programs, initiatives, and improvement projects.
  • Collaborates with physicians and operational leaders to identify and execute solutions that will improve ambulatory quality and patient safety while reducing cost and enhancing the patient experience.
  • Leverages LEAN techniques to assess current gaps, reduce variation and develop standard work, while ensuring alignment across the system.
  • Assists in designing and implementing quality and patient safety initiatives across the company, including Patient Relations.
  • Supports the Clinical Leadership Team – Ambulatory Quality team in creating a scalable and sustainable suite of programs that will allow Sutter Health to continue to be a leader in ambulatory quality performance, locally, regionally, statewide, and nationally. This individual will report directly to the Director, Ambulatory Quality & Patient Safety and will serve as a liaison among quality leaders, physicians, and clinical operations, in pursuit of achieving the highest levels of quality performance. This role will also interact with, but not limited to, My Health Online, Information Services, Contracting, Marketing and external stakeholders (e.g., health plan partners) as appropriate.
  • Partners with health plans to ensure quality programs are understood and executed to maximize clinical quality performance.

Lead the Implementation of Ambulatory Quality Programs across the Company

  • Support the implementation of ambulatory quality improvement and patient safety strategies across Sutter Health
  • Identify and assess quality improvement and patient safety programs that leverage technology, analytics, and reporting to enhance patient experience, focused on the organizations goals and objectives
  • Lead the development and coordination on specific projects designed to improve quality improvement, patient safety and the patient experience across the company.

Program Management

  • Ensure all projects adhere to project methodology compliance standards
  • Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of projects
  • Report program and project metrics and identifies schedule recovery plans as needed
  • Manage and resolve risks which could jeopardize the deliverables and results of ambulatory quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Define and maintain project plans, budgets, and communication associated with multiple work streams in support of the strategy and roadmap
  • Make recommendations to management for alternative methods to enhance costs efficiencies, reassess the program’s strategic direction, productivity, improved process performance and capital utilization

Manage Ambulatory Quality Partnerships and Teams

  • Collaborate with a matrixed, cross-functional team of key stakeholders and leaders throughout Sutter Health to collaborate and execute on Sutter Health’s ambulatory quality and patient safety strategy
  • Organize and cultivate engagement in the CLT Ambulatory Quality Committee
  • Support and partner with health plans on various quality initiatives and programs and provide key updates to leadership


SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of person-centered design thinking and pilot development.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry forces, best practices, reimbursement strategies, and future applications for Ambulatory Quality.
  • Extensive working knowledge of healthcare and physician organization operations, risk management and organizational development needed to create and implement quality and patient safety strategies across a large, multi-specialty care delivery system.
  • General understanding of the complexity of the current US healthcare environment with a strong vision for trends within the ambulatory environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory agency standards, compliance issues, and laws applicable to health care operations.
  • Understanding of key technologies, clinical and business trends for Ambulatory Quality.
  • Proven ability to understand the nuances and strategic applications of Ambulatory Quality in various settings inclusive but not limited to acute and ambulatory services, to enhance the company’s current geographic footprint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to influence staff and physicians.
  • Proven ability to develop, motivate, and retain a strong team by demonstrating and setting high standards of behavior and performance.
  • Strong leadership ability to forge strong executive relationships, collaborate with diverse peers, and manage the details on the ground.
  • Demonstrated capability of analyzing and applying market data to guide strategy development.
  • Strong change management skills to ensure organizational support of Ambulatory Quality initiatives.
  • Advanced level of competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio.


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Business Administration, Computer Science, Health Administration, IT or related field – Required Or equivalent education/experience
  • Master's Business (MBA), Hospital Administration (MHA), Computer/Information Science (MCS, MSIS or MIT), or related field – Preferred Or equivalent education/experience"
