Field Service Engineer

International Manufacturer of high speed rigid plastic printing machines for packaging has an immediate opportunity for an experienced full time Mechatronics Field Service Technician 40% systems engineering 30% mechanical and 30% electrical.


Position Summary:
The primary role of the Mechatronics Field Service Technician is to facilitate service repairs, maintenance, training and installation of printers and specialty handling devices that we sell to our customers at their sites and at our facility. All work is to be performed in a timely, courteous and efficient manner. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (and hold a valid passport). Travel is up to 70% of the job.


Key Position Responsibilities:
Must be able to manage customer situations in high speed production environment and work effectively on customer’s equipment. Have top notched communication skills with customers, vendors and coworkers and have ability to manage parts inventory and read machine drawings. Also, must possess a high level of trouble shooting skills and provide a superior level of customer service. Responsible to accurately document all customer service visits in a report in a timely manner. Training for our specialized equipment is provided however, the candidate is expected to have experience in Systems-Electro-Mechanical assemblies and preferably in high speed applications.


Job Requirements:
 •  Capable of Troubleshooting high speed Electro-Mechanical Equipment
 •  Field Service in Customer’s plant
 •  Training abroad in the Netherlands (approx one month)
 •  Solid Systems, Electrical and Mechanical Aptitude with ability to understand PLC and Electrical interfaces
 •  Working Knowledge of PC’s and window based operating system programs
 •  Ability to work independently and with others
 •  Ability to utilize and understand service manuals and shop drawings.
 •  Maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism
 •  Good organizational skills, self-motivator and have good follow up skill
 •  Have ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
 •  Maintain a positive can do attitude.


Preferred Experience:
 •  Previous experience in customer field service on high speed equipment
 •  Previous experience in Thermoforming/Injection molding or related industry
 •  Military Mechanical Experience a plus
 •  PLC experience with knowledge of:

- Siemens S7
- Bosh Rexroth Drives
- Allen Bradley
- Pills Safety Relays

Physical Requirements:
 •  Carry 40 pounds, stand, driving. Pulling, squatting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching and pushing up to 300 lbs. on wheels.
