JOB SUMMARY

Manages work assignments in staffing, scheduling, coordinating and planning personnel engaged in manufacturing engineering activities for stamping, assembly, tool & die, program management and continuous improvement.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Responsible for Die Maintenance, Engineering Change Management, CIP, Plant Engineering, Plant Layout, Weld Integrity Process and Capitol Panning

2.  Plans and establishes engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates;

3.  Supervises assembly of cost control and statistical data;

4.  Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary;

5.  Approves process specification and design standards;

6.  Prepares and controls departmental annual budget;

7.  Directly supervises engineers. Carries out supervisory, coaching and audit responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems;

8.  Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions. Performs root cause analysis and creates permanent corrective action.

9.  All other duties deemed necessary.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1.  Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering discipline with MS or MBA preferred. 10 years Manufacturing Engineering Management experience in automotive stamping and assembly operations highly preferred. Tier 1 automotive experience essential;

2.  Manufacturing Engineering management experience in stamping, sheet metal, tool and die, robotic welding, and material handling highly preferred;

3.  Significant program launch and quoting experience

4.  Steady career progression at a leading manufacturing company demonstrating stable job history;

5.  Experience in other manufacturing disciplines preferred (ie. MFG operations, Materials, Quality, OEM experience (both domestic and transplants);

6.  Maintenance management experience in an automated environment;

7.  Significant exposure to Lean Manufacturing techniques.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1.  Ability to interact with customers and suppliers (internal and external);

2.  Quality assurance knowledge;

3.  Working knowledge of Database software; Development software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

1.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

2.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear

3.  Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds

4.  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time

5.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

6.  The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

7.  The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understand

8.  The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
