We are seeking an extraordinary Resort Manager with the talent and passion to help the property reach its potential. In addition to having significant, luxury hotel/resort management experience, the ideal candidate is someone who loves the outdoors and would embrace all that a magnificent mountain town lifestyle has to offer (skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, boating).
LWL is a multi-unit AAA four-diamond resort, on a 10-acre, four-season campus, and is comprised of 231 guest sleeping rooms in 156 units (hotel rooms, condos and homes). There are 12,000 sq. ft. of event space, a large, busy restaurant/bar/lounge called the Boat Club, indoor and outdoor pools, an outdoor waterfront bar & grill, a full-service spa, a retail boutique and a 90 slip full service marina w/rental watercraft.
Located in Whitefish, MT, the gateway to Glacier National Park, the Lodge at Whitefish Lake is a full-service, year-round luxury resort, in the town of Whitefish, on the shores of Whitefish Lake. Serviced by multiple national airlines into Glacier Park Airport and by Amtrak's "Empire Builder" line (Chicago-Seattle or Portland), LWL is just 4 miles from the base lodge of Big Mountain and Whitefish Ski Resort, 28 miles from the gates of Glacier National Park, and is an anchor dining destination in the town of Whitefish, known regionally as a center for dining and entertainment.
LWL is owned by Averill Hospitality, a small, private, family-owned, Montana-based collection of hotels.
POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Director of Rooms is responsible for the management of the non-F&B Lodge at Whitefish Lake operational departments of Front Office (including Valet); Concierge; Housekeeping (including Laundry); Spa; Maintenance; and for the Averill Hospitality combined operational departments of Reservations and Transportation for the Whitefish properties. Additional departments may be added to the Director of Rooms role in the future.
The Director of Rooms is accountable for outcomes of the operational areas outlined above, including guest service and satisfaction goals, financial and staffing objectives. Will report to General Manager and deputizes for the General Manager in his/her absence.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the resort, the Director of Rooms is responsible for modeling core values and charges; contributing to the fulfillment business objectives across the business unit; and to collaborate with others in the Executive Leadership Team in the fulfillment of shared mission.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
● Bachelor’s degree
● At least five years of experience in a resort management role, in a similar scale property
(Four Seasons, Montage, Ritz-Carlton, etc.)
● Multi-year four and/or five star/diamond property experience
● Extensive experience in resort operations
● A commitment to ongoing, continuing professional development
● Strong computer skills, including proficiency in hospitality software systems
● Excellent verbal and written communication
● Training and staff development expertise
● Outstanding team leadership skills
● Warm, engaging personality that projects professional confidence and calm
● Motivation to achieve exceptional customer service and employee relations
● Creative mind to facilitate efficient problem solving
● Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
● High level of personal integrity and ethics
SCHEDULE / HOLIDAYS/ PTO:
This is a full-time, year-round position. The Director of Rooms is expected to keep a 5 day a week schedule, adjusted as needed according to occupancy and business need, and be available for peak guest times and/or in the event of an emergency. A work week of 45 hours per week can be expected, however it can vary (more or less) depending on the business needs of the Lodge. Working evenings, weekends and holidays is required, and the Director of Rooms will participate in on-call emergency coverage with the Lodge team. The Director of Rooms will need to be available during peak seasons; typically taking PTO and vacations during slower seasons. In most cases, PTO will not be allowed during June 15 - September 15, and December 15 – January 5.
Excellent salary and benefit package including medical benefits, 2 weeks’ vacation, 401K with matching up to 4%. Please note housing is not provided, however, cost of living is reasonable in this area.
