O.F. Mossberg and Sons, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of hunting and sporting rifles and shotguns. We are a privately owned company that has been in business celebrating our 100th year in business. Headquartered in North Haven, CT, we manufacture small firearms for hunting, home protection, target shooting, as well as, exclusive firearms for the US Military and law enforcement agencies.
We currently have an open position for a Strategic Buyer for our North Haven Manufacturing facility. This position reports to the Materials Manager.
Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Strategic Buyer will be responsible for:
Supporting new product development programs, strategies, and processes to ensure purchased parts requirements are satisfied when needed;
Lead and make recommendations for sourcing strategies and manage implementation process;
Manage export license's and import permits for legal and regulatory compliance/requirements;
Partner with suppliers/vendors for requisitioned materials per company process and procedure;
Negotiate with suppliers/vendors for cost effectiveness, quality, and best practices;
Evaluate current and future suppliers/vendors to ensure best pricing, quality, and performance;
Communicate with key stakeholders internally and externally regarding current and future requirements to support new product development;
Lead projects, teams, and people on company initiatives, programs, and projects as needed;
Act as liaison for company strategic planning and communicate as necessary;
Create and perform to metrics that drive company high-level performance and best practice processes;
Other duties as required.
3 to 5 years experience in manufacturing environment.
AS Degree or related experience.
Solid understanding of purchasing and/or sourcing procedures, negotiating, and working with suppliers/vendors.
Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement/Project Management Skills.
Able to make decisions, work independently, be a team player, and communicate with all levels of management.
Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PPT.
SAP/ERP, Microsoft AX or other related software programs.
