Project Engineer

The Regional Water Authority is looking for an experienced Project Engineer (PE) to add value to its Capital Planning and Delivery Department. We are looking for an experienced Engineer in all conventional aspects of engineering subject matter. The Project Engineer will apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to broad variety of assignments and related fields and make decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods. The PE position requires use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, principles, and practices. The PE will execute RWA engineering projects from the planning phase through completion. We expect dedication and high quality work from our employees. Job Responsibilities:

· Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments

· Executes RWA’s capital and O&M engineering projects from planning through completion

· Oversees work by consultants including developing RFPs, reviewing studies and designs, coordination of information from RWA departments, and review and approval of consultant invoices

· Provides detailed review of designs of new water facilities or improvements to existing facilities, including water treatment plants, chemical feed systems, pumping stations, pipelines, pipe bridges, water storage tanks, valve chambers, dams, spillways, and gatehouses

· Develops comprehensive budgetary estimates for proposed projects and conceptual estimates for future improvements

· Develops and administers contract documents including plans, specifications, contracts, addendums, field memos, and change orders

· Conducts applied research and evaluates hydraulic modeling analysis; writes technical reports identifying system deficiencies and recommended solutions; conducts investigations, analyses and evaluations

· Assists with asset management program activities including condition assessments and risk analyses

· Obtains local, state and federal permits and approvals for RWA projects

· Provides engineering assistance to other RWA departments including complete project management


·         Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or other acceptable technical field required

·         Five years of progressive experience in utility or consulting engineering, or other acceptable experience

·         PE or EIT preferred

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

·         Ability to analyze problems, assess alternatives, and identify solutions

·         Excellent technical, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

·         Advanced computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook GIS
