CNC Programmer (Engineering Technician)

Job Summary:

Works with plant leaders and production personnel in supporting manufacturing processes that result in high quality product which consistently meet or exceed our Customer expectations. Works collaboratively with internal and external customers leveraging engineering solutions to solve problems and improve processes. Using specific types of computer programs ie: SolidWorks, CNC, nesting programs) generate drawings for specific products directly for customers or for use in other departments. Supports the Sales, Estimating, and Operations teams in establishing method of manufacturing and assist with applying proper time standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Timely completion for design projects as assigned
  • Supports success of NPI process
  • Help stimulate creativity within the Engineering Group
  • Ability to effectively manage work under pressure for time sensitive projects
  • Creating and validating new designs as assigned
  • Participates in creation and presentation of concepts/products to internal and external customers
  • Direct programming of CNC equipment.
  • Recommends and facilitates execution of improvements to manufacturing methods
  • Provides support to operations, purchasing and estimating teams

General Responsibilities:

  • Product design and conceptual renderings using SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Promote creative and effective thinking within the engineering group
  • Create drawing packages as required
  • Create test plans as needed, conduct testing and document results
  • Participate in the design, assembly and testing of prototypes
  • Technical presentations to internal and external customers
  • Support program design reviews, drawing reviews, failure analysis, and anomaly resolution

Education and Experience:

·         High School Degree Required

·         Bachelor or Associate Degree in Engineering Discipline Preferred

·         4+ years’ experience in sheet metal engineering and design disciplines required

·         Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication experience preferred 

·         Above average knowledge of manufacturing principles and equipment

·         Excellent CNC programming / nesting skills required

·         Experience with Trumpf TruTops, SolidWorks and/or MasterCAM software

·         Firmly grasps the concept and use of modern technologies to perform job functions

·         Experience with automation processes and new technology highly desired

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels of an organization

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office a must
