General Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager is accountable and responsible for the safe operational management of the facility and its employees. In conjunction with the company President, plans and directs activities for the division, including safety, engineering, indirect and administrative functions. Provides leadership and cohesion, to ensure division is performing at the highest level.

RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                                                

  • Ensure the safe operation of the site and the safety of all employees at that location.

  • Serve as the local point of contact to facilitate resource conflicts when the department heads are not co-located at the same site.

  • Participate in the strategic planning for the organization, as it relates to the division and the implementation strategic goals and objectives

  • In conjunction with company president, develop, administer and maintain continuous improvement methodologies for the site.

  • Primary responsibility for efficient, cost-effective facility operations

  • Prepare budget and sales forecasts with CFO

  • Review financial and operating reports

  • Participate in the selection of and approval, within budgetary and corporate guidelines, expenditures for capital equipment

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the facility, overseeing that work is accomplished by the managers and supervisors, and that it is consistent with corporate policies and objectives

  • Oversee that the inventory management is consistent with sales, cash flow and financial goals

  • Oversee sales, delivery, distribution, pricing, accounting and customer service

  • Serve as the principal public relations spokesperson for the facility

  • Advise and direct staff; provide assistance and guidance where needed

  • In conjunction with company president, oversee that staff develop and participate in the implementation professional development plans for employees and supervisors

  • Resolve important customer complaints and service problems

  • Maintain proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies as required

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Global Code of Business Principles, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Operational Framework

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or other related discipline; Masters preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 10 or more years of pertinent experience in senior leadership operations roles

  • Six Sigma Certification highly desired

     

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of FARS, DFARS, GAAP, government contracting

  • Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), and negotiating skills

  • Strong leadership, motivation and managerial skills

  • Team player who works productively with wide range of people

  • Motivated self-starter, comfortable in fast-paced environment

  • Superior presentation/public speaking skills

  • Manages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, inventory/warehouse management and distribution software

  • Experience developing and implementing business plans and goals

  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards

  • Demonstrated competency in hiring, developing and leading employees to achieve corporate and personal objectives

  • Proven history of profit and loss management to maximize financial performance

  • Problem-solving and analytical ability

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
